1) Title
Symptom-Relieving Effects of Outdoor-Cultivated King Agaricus KA21 on Malassezia and Other Fungal Infections

2) Summary
To evaluate the effects of outdoor-cultivated Agaricus KA21 from Brazil on fungal infections, two feeding trials were conducted on dogs and cats with fungal diseases. In the first trial, dogs with Malassezia dermatitis (n=9) were given Agaricus KA21, and the group not receiving oral steroids (n=4) showed increased antibody titers against fungal β-glucan and improvement in clinical symptoms. In the second trial, dogs and cats with fungal infections (n=94) were given Agaricus KA21, resulting in alleviated clinical symptoms after administration. These results suggest that feeding Agaricus KA21 enhances antibody titers against fungal β-glucan and may relieve symptoms of fungal diseases such as Malassezia and dermatophytosis.
